Bench Fees are Back at Amp Craft
Bench Fees are back for some items. This means that a fee is due when leaving some units for repair. This fee is deducted from the final cost of your repair. The bench fee varies depending on the type of item.

dOES AMP CRAFT OFFER PENSIONER and STUDENT DISCOUNTS
Yes we offer our pensioner and student customers a generous discount. Students must provide evidence.
iS MY GEAR SAFE AT AMP CRAFT
Yes. Your gear is as safe as it could be. We have 24 hour CCTV and intrusion systems and the premises is always occupied. Our CCTV and intrusion Alarms are monitored 24/7 by a remote security monitoring company. In addition there is always some one on site 24 hrs a day. We have secure lockup storage in our main shop which customers do not have access to. No cash is kept on the premises and we do not allow customers or visitors in to our secured area. The items in the reception area are either awaiting pickup, are beyond repair or in the diagnostic or testing phase. Any vintage collectable or highly valuable gear is always locked up in an undisclosed location and protected by electronic security and monitored by armed guards. Amp Craft is fully insured for any loss and liability.
Does amp craft have a minimum labour charge
Yes. Amp craft charge a minimum of $160.00. some minor repairs do not justify this however and will be treated accordingly and the minimum can be waved.
Does amp craft do onsite service calls
Not at this time. in some situations, amp Craft will come to your venue, studio or home and carry out service work on site. Subject to sustainability. Please call to discuss your needs.

Yes. Amp Craft offers its customers a personalised service and will help you design your next audio project or help solve issues with your existing system.
does amp craft know anything about live sound systems
Yes. Amp Craft was born from the live music and live sound industry. We have experience with all manner of live sound systems from the most basic small cafe soloist P.A system to large scale arena's and stadiums.

dOES AMP CRAFT FIX ANY KIND OF AMPLIFIER
We will fix any type of amplifier including Tube, solid state, Professional, Audiophile, selected HI-FI. Any brand from any era. If you have a class D amplifier please ask first as some are not repairable.
Does amp craft fix effects and cables ?
Yes, Amp Craft will fix effects, cables,switchers, routers & vintage tape echo units.
Can amp craft repair my old valve / tube effect or pre amp
Yes, we love valve/ tube amps. The older the better.
DO i need to bring in my speaker cabinet or P.A speakers.
In the case of a guitar amplifier, it is preferred but not totally necessary. Some faults can be due to faulty speakers or connection issue. When it comes to P.A systems it is best to bring the entire system in if possible so that we can test the system as a whole. sometimes the problem is hiding in a speaker or crossover network.
Do you charge for quotes or to diagnose my problem

Yes, we charge a bench fee of $100.00 This fee will be deducted from the final balance. You can choose to pay with Direct deposit fast OSKO payments, Visa, Master card, eftpos, apple pay,G pay, Smartphone or pay cash when you drop the item off. Your repair inspection & estimate can not proceed until a deposit is paid. If you decide that you do not want to go ahead with the repair, The fee is retained. This is to cover parts & labor cost associated with the diagnosis . If you cant afford to pay the bench fee, talk to us about other options. we are here to help.

Once you decide to go ahead with the repair, we will request payment in full or a deposit. We will then begin the repair process. We will order the parts required and keep you posted on it’s progress at all times. Parts such as output transformers, power transformers, speakers and odd tubes may not always be in stock and will need to be special ordered. We will inform you if this is the case when we provide you with your estimate. Some minor repairs will be carried out without an estimate. Repairs up to and including $160.00 will go ahead automatically and you will be notified when your item is ready for pickup If the repair cost exceeds $160.00 you will be notified and provided with an estimate that will indicate the total cost of the repair.

can i supply my own parts
Yes. You may supply your own parts. This will be subject to suitability. We can advise you weather or not your parts are suitable.
can i get advice from an amp craft technician
Yes. We are happy to offer advice. We have a wide knowledge base and are happy to share it.
Can i swap out my power tubes for better tone or more power
In most cases no. It is not advisable to do this. Your amplifier was shipped from the factory with the best tubes for the given design. While it is possible to do this it should always be approached with caution. Pin assignments and voltage ratings can vary. The bias is also something that needs to be considered. Running tubes with the incorrect bias settings can cause damage to the amplifier and tubes.
can i swap out my preamp tubes for better tone
This is somewhat subjective. You can change a tube to lower the gain and reduce noise as long as you swap them with the same type. In place of your 12AX7, You can use a 12AU7 , 12AY7 ,5751,or 7025.Normally the tube that effects tone and noise the most is the fist preamp stage tube. This is located farthest from the output transformer in most cases. Check with us if you are unsure.
is it true that some fender amps have errors in the wiring.
Yes, this is true. Some post CBS silver face amps have issues that need to be rectified. in particular the filament wiring , lead dress and bias capacitor values among others.
Do you always need a schematic diagrAm. What if I CANT FIND ONE.
Although it is preferred that we approach the repair with the aid of a schematic or service manual, It is not always possible. In some cases they are just not available. Amp Craft have a vast array of schematics from many manufacturers in our library. Sometimes the fault is obvious enough that we do not need one.
WHEN CAN I BRING MY EQUIPMENT IN FOR SERVICE
We accept repair items by appointment only. Please call to arrange an appointment. We are flexible and can accommodate for after hours and shift workers. Even after the gig is possible.
What ACCESSORIES should I bring with my unit.
Any power supplies, plug packs, power cables, speaker cables, data storage or system software, speciality cables or associated hardware, spare tubes or any spare parts you think may be required. If unsure give us a call.
Does Amp Craft Repair Guitars
YES. Amp Craft will repair all guitar electronics, active and passive. We can do all types of guitar repairs including Electronics, Fret leveling, Re fretting, Crack and dent repair, Acoustic bridge repair, refinishing, fret board scalloping and much more.
